The Blog about Nothing

Holy cow! 7 years ago I started this blog with the intentions of posting regularly and creating content. It's 7 years later, and boy how my life has changed. I'm happy to report things are better than ever after many years struggling with depression and anxiety. I'm dedicated to providing regular updates this time around and hope that visitors find some of the information amusing and/or useful. I know there are many blogs on the internet and my little corner of the world may never be noticed, but if you've found this page, welcome! It will be kind of like the Seinfeld show, but a blog. So, a blog about nothing in particular, just a lot of random things!

Oh little white puppy dog,
With all your spots,
How can I not love you?

Always happy to see me,
Always eating the toilet paper,
Always stealing the towels.

I love it when you wag your tail.
I love it when you snuggle close.
I love it when you bark in your sleep,
I hope one day you catch that rabbit you chase in your dreams.

Oh blog, how I neglect thee....

I really want to update my blog, I do! But sometimes things just get in the way and I can't find time. Since my horse hobby has resurfaced, I spend most of my time training and learning new things from my new equine friend. Apache has taught me a lot about myself over the past few months, and a lot about life in general.

Pat Parelli and Clinton Anderson both say that horses teach people. That couldn't be more true. I have enjoyed every moment with this horse, the good and not so good. I have learned patience, kindness, and respect. I have learned that the bond between horse and rider is priceless, and that even though I thought I knew everything about horses, I didn't know squat! This has been the most rewarding experience in my life.

Growing up with horses was fun, but now that I am older and able to understand them better and am eager to learn everything I can, the experience is now magical. I can't wait for each evening when I spend time with Apache and learn something new, and love him just a little more each day.

Performance Reviews, and why I hate them.

I ran accross an excellent article on performance reviews this morning and I just had to share it. I have always felt like they are self-esteem crushers and that many managers use them in that manner. It always seems like the manager just has to find SOMETHING wrong with what you are doing in order to justifiy their job. Instead of encouraging you or working with you to help you improve on your skills and abilities. I understand that no one is perfect and that you can always look for ways to improve your job, but it should be done as this article suggests. It's all about training the managers to take a different approach to encouraging employees. Read it and let me know what you think.

New Season, New Blog!

Welcome to my new blog! I have lots of different ideas and thoughts about things that I would love to share, but sometimes I do not think that facebook and twitter are the right places to share them.

I also tend to be very crafty and random, and hope that I can share that quirky side of myself here at my new blog home.
